Terms of Service

Service: Canbeasy (web app, Android app, and the “Canbeasy Connect” browser extension)

Operator: Canbeasy · Contact: support@canbeasy.com

Effective date: 2026-07-09 · Last updated: 2026-07-11

1. Acceptance

By checking “I agree” and using Canbeasy, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use Canbeasy.

2. Eligibility and age

You must be at least 13 years old to use Canbeasy, and you confirm this when you sign up. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Canbeasy only with the involvement and agreement of a parent or guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf. We do not knowingly permit use by children under 13.

3. What Canbeasy is — and isn’t

Canbeasy is an independent study tool that connects to your Canvas account using your own access. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by your school or district, or by Instructure, Inc. “Canvas” is a trademark of Instructure, Inc., used only to describe compatibility. Canbeasy does not provide professional, legal, medical, financial, or academic-grading advice.

4. Academic integrity — the most important part

Canbeasy is a coach, not a ghostwriter. Its AI features exist to help you understand, plan, and check your own work. They are not for producing work you’ll submit as your own.

You are solely responsible for following your school’s and instructor’s academic-integrity and honor-code rules. Using any tool — including Canbeasy — in a way that violates those rules is your responsibility, not ours, and may have serious consequences at your institution. When in doubt, ask your instructor what’s allowed.

5. Your Canbeasy account and Canvas connection

You can connect Canvas and use the non-AI dashboard without a Canbeasy account. A Canbeasy account is required only for AI features and any current or future subscription purchase; signing in also enables cross-device cloud sync. If you choose those features, you create an account with Google or an email and password. Give us accurate account information, keep your sign-in secure, and don’t let anyone else use your account. You’re responsible for activity under it. Contact us promptly if you believe it was compromised.

Separately, Canbeasy connects to Canvas using a personal access token or, where supported, your live browser session. Treat a Canvas token like a password: it can read your Canvas data. Keep it secret; don’t share it. You can revoke it in Canvas at any time. Note that some schools’ rules or Canvas’s own API policies may restrict generating or using personal access tokens — using Canbeasy is your choice and your responsibility, and we may have to limit features if Canvas access is withdrawn.

6. Content you add

You keep ownership of the files, photos, text, and recordings you add (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit Your Content only to operate Canbeasy for you (including sending it to the AI providers listed in the Privacy Policy). You represent that you have the right to add Your Content and that doing so doesn’t break the law or anyone’s rights.

7. Recording is your responsibility

If you use the recording feature, you alone are responsible for complying with the law. Many U.S. states (for example California, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Washington) require the consent of everyone being recorded in a private conversation. Record only open lectures where you’re permitted — not private conversations, study groups, office hours, or other people without their consent. Your school or instructor may also prohibit recording. Canbeasy can’t give you legal clearance and isn’t responsible for how you use recordings.

8. AI output — no guarantee of accuracy

Canbeasy’s study help is generated by artificial intelligence. It can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date, is not reviewed by a human, and must not be relied on as fact or as finished work. Always verify it against your course materials and your instructor. Canvas-derived information may also lag or differ from your official record in Canvas.

9. Acceptable use

10. Third-party services

Canbeasy relies on third parties (Canvas/Instructure, Google for optional sign-in and linked documents, and the AI providers in the Privacy Policy). We don’t control them, and your use of their services is subject to their terms. We’re not responsible for their acts, outages, or changes.

11. Payments and subscriptions

Canbeasy is free to use today — there is nothing to buy and nothing that renews. Any plan prices, school-year quotes, or token packs shown in the app are a non-purchasable demo. The school-year selector shows a one-time price for the number of months chosen; it is not an annual renewal. If we add paid plans later, we’ll show the price and billing frequency before you pay, get your affirmative consent to any automatic renewal, let you cancel anytime (effective at the end of the billing period), and update these Terms — you’ll be asked to agree to the new billing terms before you’re ever charged.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

Canbeasy is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that Canbeasy will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its output will be correct.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Canbeasy and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, grades, or academic or other opportunities, arising from your use of Canbeasy. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed US $100 or the amount you paid us in the past 12 months, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limits, so parts may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that can’t be limited by law.

14. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Canbeasy and its operator from claims and costs arising out of your misuse of Canbeasy, Your Content, your recordings, or your violation of these Terms or the law.

15. Termination

You can stop using Canbeasy and delete your account and data at any time (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or end access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the service.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and you agree to the jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in California for any dispute not subject to other agreement.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We’ll post changes here with a new “Last updated” date and, for material changes, ask you to re-accept. Changes apply going forward.
